Syntaxtic! Review - A Way to Highlight Source Files on Chrome
Syntaxtic! is a simple and effective syntax highlighting application for Chrome.
When you visit a website, any files that are stored on the server are sent in the response to your browser and, depending on the type of file, is either displayed as a text or HTML version.
So if you are a developer, you are not limited to any file types. In fact, most of the file types that you are going to work on are automatically recognized. You are only required to install the application in order to view the source code.
The files can be searched through the history, so you can easily find the required code, and even preview the file in another tab of your browser.
You can also configure the settings for the extension. The default settings are pretty much self-explanatory, but you can tweak the size of the coloring boxes and the colors that are used.
The coloring can be applied only to the files that are open in the current tab of your browser.
So, if you are reading an article in the 'Body' section of your web browser, you will not see any file type or coloration.
If you visit the file in the 'Project' section of the website, then it will be applied to the selected file.
This application is not a general text editor, and it is not capable of handling large volumes of text. You are only allowed to add text that corresponds to one language, for example, if the file has an a.cpp extension, then it will only be highlighted in C++.
